Do You Need A Website?

Many people come to The Web Workshop realising that they need a web presence, but don't know quite how best to go about it. With limited or no experience, it's hard for them to imagine just what's possible. They know that there are opportunities online, but visualising what form they might take and how best to harness them is hard when they've never been there.

By taking the time to understand what your business is about, and what it might become with the help of an inspired and imaginative web presence, we can help take you beyond a pedestrian, plodding solution to something far more exciting, attractive and engaging. Capturing the best of your business and releasing its potential is what we are all about.

I was impressed by his wide knowledge, professionalism and approachability...If you are thinking of a website for your company, large or small, my advice would be... use him!!"

The 14 Factor

These days, making websites isn't particularly difficult. "So, what do I need you for?" you say.

Well, making websites may not be difficult, but making well-designed sites that appeal to the eye, comply with modern standards and accessibility laws, and are search engine-friendly is another matter altogether.

You don't usually have to travel very far before you'll meet someone who knows someone whose 14-year-old could put together a site for you tomorrow afternoon. That's fine...if you really don't care about your business and you only want to spend about £50.

Am I Bovvered?

If you're still reading, then you do care about your business - and we can do business!.

You want your business to have a site that reflects the high quality of the products or service you provide.

You want a website that can grow as your business grows.

You want tools that will help you interact with your customers with minimum effort from yourself.

You see that having a website as an investment - not an expense.

No matter what size of site I'm putting together, from a single page webvert to a fully-blown, all-singing all-dancing CMS-driven site with hundreds of pages, the same care and attention to detail goes into every one.

With A Little Help From Your Friends

I will help you with any or all of:

  • Giving your business a complete re-brand. My graphic design team can create stunning logo, artwork and branding to give you the edge over the competition at prices that won't give the bank manager sleepless nights.
  • Marketing your site
  • Show you how you can update it yourself or work out a maintenance programme for you
  • Introduce you to one of the most powerful tools for bringing people back to your site time and time again

The Process

Your Free Initial Consultation

When you get in touch, we'll arrange a day and time to get together for your free initial consultation. We'll discuss what you would like your website to do for you, whether you feel it's a good time to look at your overall branding, etc.

It's the ideal opportunity make sure we feel we can all work together well, as the designer-client relationship can go on for years.

You will also be given an idea as to the minimum costs that would be involved in your project.

Your Proposal

Once I have enough information about you, your business and your requirements, and you are happy to take things to the next stage, I will prepare a detailed formal proposal and possibly a mockup screenshot of what your site could look like. If you are looking for additional branding, we will put a few ideas for logos together as well at this stage.

Remember that at this stage, you are still under no obligation to commit to the project.

Your formal proposal will detail:

  • The costs entailed in creating an inital layout for your website
  • A total amount for constructing all the site pages based on our initial conversation
  • Any additional software required and their cost(s): Content Management System, WriteSoon Newsletter software, etc
  • The cost for any branding, logos, artwork, etc that we will be producing
  • Timescales involved
  • Should any training for yourself or your staff be required, this will be costed on a daily rate pro-rata basis
  • An initial amount for project management, additional consultation, keyword research, etc
  • The total amount quoted will be based on all text and images used on your website being supplied ready to go straight onto the relevant pages. Don't worry if you feel that you can't do that - we can create compelling copy (text) and get your images looking pin sharp and colour-correct, and we'll sort out the best price we can for you.

As you can see, an initial amount of time is built in to cover project management, additional consultation, keyword research, etc. Subsequently, any extra time involved in getting your project completed will simply be added on to the total amount you've been quoted.

By this stage, most clients are more than happy to take their project to the next stage and give the go-ahead. However, don't worry if you feel that you'd like more time to discuss your requirements, but please note that any additional time we have to spend on your proposal at this point will have to be additionally charged for. Take a look at Terms & Conditions for full details.

The Go-Ahead...

Only once you're happy with your proposal do you give the go-ahead for your project. When you've "signed on the dotted line", it's all systems go.

Progress Reports

During the design and build process, you'll be kept up to date regularly with progress.

At some stages you'll be asked for approval before we can proceed to the next level. For example, the general page design must be agreed on before the main site pages can be built - that kind of thing.

Site Completion

Once all the design work has been completed and any additional systems have been thoroughly tested, we are ready to put your new website live. You'll take a look through everything to make sure that you are 100% happy before signing off the project. Our Terms & Conditions give you full details.

So, hopefully that's given you even a brief look at what's involved in getting your business onto the Internet, or giving you existing site an overhaul. We find that this system helps to keep everyone focused on moving the project along, while still keeping close attention to detail.
